What Could You Do if You Owned Every Tablet In The World?

Tablets. Big news in the IT industry today – people are using, creating for, and reviewing them all the time. So we thought we’d take a look at the subject. Now, if you have access to the Internet, and you’re very, very, patient, you can track down the current number of tablet PCs on the market today (and keep in mind that that market is only three years old).

It’s 32,000,000. That’s a lot of tablets.

It’s pretty hard to get your head around that number, though – sure, it’s a lot, but really, once you get past enough for you, your family, their pets, your friends, and all of your friends’ pets, what more can you do? If you really did have enough money to get every tablet in the world, what would it mean?

Well, we had a think, and here’s what we came up with – rebuilding a nature reserve, watching all of YouTube in under three hours, powering the USA with a black hole, and climbing up to the International Space Station included. It’s a long way to go, to get from a device that is – on average – just 23.9 cm high, 16.9 cm wide, and 1.18cm thick, but hey, if you happen to have $17,376,000,000 to spare, then it might be a fun way to spend a long weekend.

Along the way, we also discovered that Italy as a word cloud is eerily similar to a hammerhead shark, but that was incidental.

This research was sponsored by Dell, as part of its promotion of its new range of laptops.
