::: Jacqueline B. Kessel, Partner, Founder of HiTech Law
Originally educated in England, Jacqueline earned her Juris Doctor Degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, in Malibu, California. She represented Pepperdine in its National Moot court competitions. She has more than 25 years of business experience, and a career that began in marketing and public relations. After Jacqueline and her husband moved to the United States, they founded their own company, Interpac Software Inc. She served as both the company’s co-owner and Executive Director, and helped build the company from a small start-up to an enterprise grossing several million in annual sales. During this time, Jackie negotiated several major deals for Interpac, while also managing sales, customer support, administration and individual technical projects.
 
Jackie then attended law school, with the intent of providing legal counsel to small businesses, particularly technology companies. After initially practicing law with The Skornia Law Firm, and Jackson, Abdalah, Rodriegez and Wong, Jackie founded HiTech Law in 1995.
Since its inception, HiTech Law has flourished, focusing on technology licensing, small business contracts, corporate law, fund formation, financings, and assisting clients in negotiating strategic alliances, acquisitions, mergers and technology licensing contracts.

::: Janine L. Haines, Partner
Janine obtained her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. Following graduation, Janine performed legal work on a contract basis for various attorneys in the San Jose area. She subsequently served as in-house counsel for a hardware/software engineering consulting firm in San Jose, California. Before attending law school, Janine earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honors, with a major in Marketing, from the University of Calgary in Canada. Following her graduation from business school, she worked in Calgary as a Product Marketing Manager for the Canadian Distributor of software and hardware products.
 
Janine completed one semester of her law school education at Pepperidge’s campus in London, where she also competed in an international moot court competition. In addition, she was active in Pepperdine student organizations and served as the Vice President of the International Law Society. She was selected by Pepperdine to be included in the 14th Edition of Who’s Who Among American Law Students.
Janine also completed the Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate Program at the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine. She has collaborated with the British Columbia International Commercial Arbitration Center to co-author a handbook on international arbitration for law firms of the Pacific Rim Advisory Counsel.Janine is a member of the Silicon Valley chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, and the Industry Council for Small Business Development.
 
::: Alan Gutterman, Attorney
Alan Gutterman received his Juris Doctorate from Boalt Hall School of Law, and an MBA in Finance at University of California, Berkeley. Alan then went on to earn his Ph.D at the Faculty of Law at Queens’ College, University of Cambridge, England where he was awarded the Overseas Research Student Award.
 
For over 20 years, Alan has represented private and public technology companies and venture capital investment entities, including venture capital fund formation, general corporate and securities matters, strategic business alliances, and mergers and acquisitions. Before joining the HiTech Law team, Alan was a Partner at Cooley, Godward, and Of Counsel to Pettit & Martin, where his practice emphasized general corporate and securities matters, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic business alliances. Alan later became the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for Enluminet, a broadband media company with offices in Fremont and Venice, California.

::: Romin P. Thomson, Associate Attorney
Romin has been representing businesses in the Silicon Valley since 1997. He regularly assists clients with the capital-raising transactions, mergers and securities issues, intellectual property issues, and general corporate matters. Romin enjoys working with emerging growth companies in a wide variety of industries.
 
Prior to joining HiTech Law, Romin was an associate attorney with Silicon Valley Law Group in San Jose, California. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Business law section of the Santa Clara County Bar Association. Romin obtained his law degree from the School of Law of Santa Clara University, in 1997.While in law school Romin co-authored the novel “Rage Against the Veil,” a biography of a human rights activist in the Nation of Iran, which has been published in three languages (Prometheus Book, New York, 1997).
