Charles B. Wang is Chairman Emeritus of Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA). Mr. Wang founded the company in 1976 with three associates and had served as Chairman until November 2002. During his tenure, he built CA from a single product enterprise into a global company with a complete array of eBusiness solutions. CA now delivers the end-to-end infrastructure to enable eBusiness through innovative technology, services and education for thousands of businesses around the world.
Mr. Wang has the unique blend of a strategic business perspective combined with a programmer's grasp of technology to ensure that CA remains the industry leader. Under Charles Wang's leadership as CEO, Fortune called CA one of "America's Most Admired Companies" as well as a "Best Company to Work for in America" and Computer World named CA its "Best Place to Work" five years running. In 1998 and 1999, Industry Week also identified CA as one of the 100 Best Managed Companies in the world.
Mr. Wang is also co-owner of the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League. He was born in Shanghai, China in August 1944 and moved to the United States with his family in 1952. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Queens College, and began his computer career at Columbia University's Riverside Research Institute as a programming trainee. He is the author of TECHNO VISION II: Every Executive's Guide to Understanding and Mastering Technology and the Internet which educates decision-makers about taking advantage of the eBusiness revolution. He serves on several corporate boards and has been active in charitable causes such as The Smile Train, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
